We believe 'Every child is different - Every child is equal '

Our neurodiverse children should not 'have' to conform to 'the norm'    They should not have to be the same as everyone else, so at Swimwell we are changing the way we do things!                                                                           

When you enrol in swimming classes, your child is expected to gain awards and badges along the way, be able to swim all 4 strokes to a good standard with the goal of being able to swim 100's of meters non stop.

For some children this 'goal' is not only unrealistic but all around they see other children achieving things they can't and wouldn't be able to do - almost setting 'our' children up for failure and who on earth needs that!

We refer to these classes as SESSIONs. 

Children can wear EAR DEFENDERs. 

The lesson plan  is displayed as a SOCIAL STORY or STORYBOARD.  

If children can use ordinary floats and noodles that's great, but we will think outside the BOX for those that don't like the feel of them.

GOGGLES with different coloured lenses are encouraged.

Don't  want the stress of having to achieve certain badges? Easy fix. We won't have them!

YOU. 

YOU are your children's safe place. YOU are who they know. It will help them if a teacher is ill or on holiday as YOU are their constant, their anchor. So YOU will be in the water supporting your children! 

Please don't worry if you aren't confident in the water - our adult support classes are there for you. Take them first and join in to the ND sessions later.
